Prominent Ear Surgery (Otoplasty, Protruding Ear Surgery)

The recommended timing of the surgery is about seven years old. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia whereas children local anesthesia can be used for adults.

The incision is placed behind the ear so that the scars become unvisible. The cartilage of the ear is then reshaped with sutures and the ear is repositioned more closely to the head.

The patient is discharged after surgery . On the first follow-up appointment ( next day), dressing is removed and a handband is worn. The patients are suggested to wear the headband for about four weeks.
