Eyelid Aesthetic Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Aging may cause sagging of the eyelid skin and forming an increase appearance of fat bags in the upper and lower eyelid . This situation which creates a tired and old expression in the person can be corrected by an eyelid surgery called blepharoplasty.
Excess skin and fatty tissue are removed from the lids, in this common procedure.
Upper eyelid incisions are hidden in the natural folds of lids. In the lower eyelid operation, the incision is usually made just below the eyelashes, however in young patients who has only fatty herniation with elastic skin , the incision is made inside the lower eyelid, leaving no visible scar. If the volume decrease is present in the region, filler or fat injection may be necessary with operation. The operation is performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia.Patients are discharged from hospital after surgery on the same day. For mild eyelid deformities or for some patients who do not want surgery , fractional radiofrequency or plasma energy can be used for correction.
